2010 Venice, Italy ~ Balcony Window
I wanted to get back to some of my
Venice subjects and this window is
so typical.
I taught my last class this morning.
Classes are finished till September.
My kids have their first scrimmage
tomorrow, I am pretty excited!!
Linda got out in the garden a little
bit tonight so all is well here...

Inner Harbor Cityscape
I went for a little cityscape today.
This was my view out the hotel window
in Inner Harbor, Baltimore, MD. The sun
was glowing on the building.
This is what I enjoy about Daily Painting...
I can spend 4-8 hours on a painting and
paint any subject that moves me for that day.
It is not like investing days to weeks in a large
painting. Everything I see can be a miniature
painting with all the detail I put in my larger
paintings.
Linda and I went to market this morning
for some veggies then drove to Chadds
Ford to pick up paintings from a gallery
exhibit. It was raining here all day and
thankfully track was cancelled. I was not
in the mood to get soaked and cold!
This gave me time to paint all evening.

Red Carpet
4"x6" Original Watercolor
$275.00 ~ SOLD
$275.00 ~ SOLD
The red color in the carpet leads you
down this hallway. It is a great study
in perspective.
My Kutztown show was so-so. The
quality is so good but they have trouble
getting in the crowds. I did connect with
an old client and made a few new ones.
I have two weeks without shows so I need
to work consistently on my blog paintings.
Track is going well, we have our first
scrimmage tomorrow.

2010 Landscape Study
This little jewel is from New England...
I think Maine. I liked the composition
and depth. Several things to look at.
A waterfall, bridge, woods and a building.
I am having a tiny bit of trouble balancing
all I have to do right now. I did not get a
blog done yesterday. I taught a class in the
morning, went to have lunch with my Mom
and got home in time for track (3-6PM) and
I painted in the evening but still not enough
time to finish. So it took me 2 days to finish
this painting.
Tomorrow there will not be a blog...
I am a guest artist at our local elementary
school all day. Then track, then leave for
Kutztown to set up for my weekend show.
The Show:
March 27-28
8th Annual Spring Craft Festival
Held at Kutztown University, Keystone Hall,
Kutztown, PA
at. 9-5 and Sun 10-4

Bartlett Pears on Marble
This is a "challenge" from a new blog
I was invited to join called Paint and Draw Together
Go to their website to see the photo I had to
work from. I love pears and have painted
them often so I was attracted to this composition.
Great color in the Bartlett's.
This painting has great creative framing potential!
I had my last Tuesday class this morning.
I will miss working with them, they are a great
group. Reminder... you can click here to see
my students recent paintings.
I am just to busy now that track started
and we travel more to continue teaching.
Classes start again in September.

Planter on steps
If you are familiar with New Castle, DE
you will recognize the bricks and the use
of shutters on the doors. A simple corner
of the front porch.
I had a decent show over the weekend,
giving me confidence that things are turning
the economic corner. Then on Sunday we
spent a sunny day sightseeing DC with Abbey
and Ben. Went up the Old Post Office Tower
for a great view of the city. I got some interesting
photos I may try to paint. Then went to the
American History Museum and Abbey gave us
a tour and saw her office. I am feeling pretty
proud!! Today I did a bit of bunny proofing in
the yard. Needed some wire under the fence to
keep the little furry things out. Track of course
took my afternoon. And now back to my painting
table. There is a new challenge that I plan to
work on. Bartlett Pears... I may have them for
tomorrow.

This is from our trip to Princeton, NJ
last weekend. I left out the rain! Several
homes had this soft yellow paint which
provides a backdrop for the green door
and shrubs.

Planter on a chest
I thought this was an interesting angle.
Lace curtains, a little sun shining to create
a warm patina on the wood.
Track started!! I have 78 sprinters all by
myself... so you know where my focus is
right now. From 3 to 6pm I am away and
then my mind is on track a few other hours
of the day! Love this time of year.
We had to replace a hot water heater and
I was floored by the cost.

Room for Two! ~ adirondack chairs
Normally I do not have any hidden meaning
in my paintings, but I think I have something
to say in this one... Something grabbed me.
Only two chairs, near the water, far from
civilization, implied quiet and peaceful...
But it is not meant to be, we leave tomorrow
to set up for a show. The plan, weather
permitting is to spend the morning in Princeton,
NJ looking for new subjects. The set up.
The Show:
March 13 & 14
The Cranbury Craft Show
Held at the Cranbury School on Main St.
Cranbury, NJ Sat. 10-4 & Sun. 11-4

2010 Winter Series #18
A Lancaster County farm scene in
snow.
This week is getting away from me! I was
able to finish the larger painting (below) over
the weekend at the show. But the past few
days Linda had a "honey do list" that went on
forever! We finally purchased a new bed
which somehow turned into clean out the
whole bedroom... I taught two classes and I
had a track meeting. Track starts Monday,
which makes concentrating on painting a
bit harder.

Below is my latest larger painting.
I was focused on the greens, I wanted
them to look real which required painting
each needle then pushing darker color
between. This is another New Castle, DE
window.
Untitled but open to suggestions... 16"x 12"

2010 Winter Series #17 ~ bench in the snow
This is the porch from the Windflower
Inn in Great Barrington, MA. We spent a
few very nice days with good friends.
Don't let the shining sun fool you, there
was lots of snow! The porch was shoveled
but you can see little piles on the side.
Rookiepainter "monthly challenge #2"
is below... The first is my painting and below
it is the photo they gave for the challenge. Not
what I would have chosen to do but I am up
to the challenge!
6"x4" Miniature Original
photo used for reference...

2010 Winter Series #16
Inspiration is everywhere.
This is my bicycle route... Finally the road
was dry and I could get out for a ride.
The snow was still piled pretty high on
the sides. This is a perfect scene to practice
painting trees. I have been studying trees
and trying to improve the way I paint them.
My new student blog is ready to view.
I have a super group of students and
thought it would be nice to showcase
their work. We put together a blog
for them. Take a moment to check it
out. Classes have ended because it is
track season and my summer
shows but the next classes start in
September. Click here to see the blog.

Lightship Chesapeake ~ Inner Harbor, MD
The lightship Chesapeake...
Another painting from our weekend trip
to Inner Harbor. I am not a boat painter
and have a limited knowledge about boats
but I could not miss these reflections. The
late afternoon sun created this wonderful
reflection in the water that I just had to
paint.
Below is the finished painting I was working
on over the weekend. If you spent time
watching its progress I must tell you I worked
on it about five more hours at home. This is
a chapel on the campus of Simon's Rock College
in the Berkshires. We attended a special wedding
there and while waiting for guests to arrive
the chapel offered a warm spot on a cold day.
The sun was streaming through the stained
glass and cast amazing colors on the wall and
over the pews.
"Be Still" ~ 12.5"x16" $1000.
