We have been celebrating my good news all through the weekend. Thursday we had dinner at Lemoncello with our friend Joan and my sister-in law Beth.

The waitress put a candle in my cake!
Friday we went to Trattoria Fratelli with friends Ron and Carol.  We had fabulous leftovers all weekend.  Saturday the guys were working on trim in the studio and Linda was painting.  Sunday we picked up a marketplace rub for the one studio room and Linda painted some more!  I was also painting!  Finished a 14x18 landscape and started one that Linda may print.  Details to follow.

I am planning to exhibit at Lititz Parkwalk
Saturday, September 30.  This is the old Porchwalk show that was moved to the park during Covid and will continue to be in the park.  It is a FREE show and the Lititz Park is beautiful.  Plan on coming to Lititz!!

I am also planning on having my annual Open House, November 17-19.  Linda is busy working on the details!   I am cutting back on my daily blog paintings so I can spend time on larger paintings.  I will blog Monday, Tuesday and Wednesday, posting at 7pm (in your inbox Tues-Thurs).  Lititz is a wonderful town full of places to stay, restaurants and shopping so plan on a getaway and come to my open house!

Health Up Date...

Today was a BIG appointment day.
Appointment #1:  7:45am was my surgeon.  He said I was in the very lucky smallest percentage who got the BEST possible results.   "Complete clinical results" meaning all cancer is GONE!   At this point the tumor is completely eradicated and nothing left but scar tissue.  I will NOT be having surgery.  As you know with cancer there is always a chance of it hiding under the scar tissue or cropping up as a different type.  I will be getting internal exams and MRI/cat scans every 3 months for the next 1-2 years.  My next appointment is 12/14.  Meanwhile we are to live our life to the fullest which is all Linda needed to hear.  I see trips  and "FUN" days being planned as you read this!!

Appointment #2:   2:00 Wound care.  As you may have guessed, torching the tumor has also torched my innards.  The only way to heal these internal burns are with the hyperbaric chamber. This was a long appointment.  Bottom line, radiation is still active 6 months after the last treatment.  Nothing can be done to help heal until after January 11.  Then I am to clear my schedule from January through March for every day, 2.5 hours inside the chamber, 5 days a week, at least 12 weeks.

After a long wound care meeting we celebrated...

I am SO thankful for all the support, the delivered Blessings and your faithful prayers. Definitely the longest nine months of our lives. But you all helped us through. THANK YOU.

2023 Sunflower #1

mini original watercolor   $225

It is Sunflower time!  I found a huge field full of Sunflowers.

Show Update:  We decided to cancel Waterford Show.  I love this show but with possibly more treatments it is just impossible to plan on going.  That leaves Parkwalk in Lititz on 9/30 and at this point I am planning on having my Open House in November.  Not the year we planned!

Road Trip: We had a small window to have some fun; since my next appointments are on Wednesday.  So last week we took a road trip with the idea of hunting some fresh subjects for me to paint. A very HOT week!   We left last Tuesday and headed to Frederick, MD.  I apologize Joan H. for not visiting but we were there only 2 hours.  We had a nice breakfast at Showroom.  And then went to Great Stuff by Paul.  Linda keeps this file of places to visit and she had a magazine article from 1999 about this place.  Paul greeted us and announced he is selling out, good we did not wait another year!  Great  place to wander around.  Back on the road heading to VA  with our next stop Gunston Hall, home of George Mason.  Do you know your history?    We both enjoy historic homes and this did not disappoint.  Then on to Stratford Hall  one of my favorites.  Birthplace of Robert E Lee.    We rented a little cottage on the grounds.  Wednesday we started with breakfast at Art of Coffee.  This area is rather limited in food choices!   We spent a few hours at the plantation house then Linda went back to the cottage and I wandered the grounds.  Dinner tonight was at Angelo's, we both had fresh caught fried shrimp.  Thursday was breakfast again at Art of Coffee and we hit the road.  The plan was to go to Middleburg, VA.  Drove back roads and enjoyed the "landscape"  We parked in town and within a few moments dark nasty clouds rolled in, we decided to skip lunch and skip wandering around and head home.  That weather chased us back to PA and finally the skies opened up so hard I had to pull over and wait it out.  We arrived safely home with LOTS of photos for me to use.  I am planning to work on some larger paintings in between the sunflowers.

Thursday thoughts...

I had an ego painting "Rosa" was NOT accepted into the Pennsylvania Watercolor International show. I am a little shocked to be honest. This is hand-drawn and no white paint and transparent watercolor.  I have to remember is it simply someones opinion BUT...

And life goes on... today I have 2 cat scans and I will not get a small painting done.  So... if you regularly read my blog you know I randomly offer a free original from my older stock.
If you are a past winner you are not eligible.
CLAIMED!!   Today, I am offering this painting FREE to the 1st person to claim it!

This is from the wedding weekend where we had time to drive around looking at landscapes.
This barn is from East Donegal Township. Working on some "big sky" paintings,

Health Update: Monday was my (scope) surgery.  We got the best news we could hope for so far. Surgeon saw ONLY scar tissue!! Said he must wait for biopsy to come back. There is a good chance surgery will NOT be needed. I am still VERY burned internally, which is what charred the tumor. It is possible a Hyperbaric oxygen chamber may be the only way to heal it.  I have to have a negative biopsy and insurance ok and then I will be starting that.  More info to follow.    I have 2 cat scans on Thursday and a surgeon appt on 9/13.  At that point a finalized plan going forward. Thank you all for your support and prayers.

This weekend, I plan to show here!  Booth # 138 (my usual space)

I did cancel my Pittsburgh show (A Fair in the Park) for next week.  I felt it would be too much with driving 4 hours, set up, show 3 days, break down and drive home 4 hours.  I really wanted to try it but Linda felt it was unwise.  This is a show I enjoy so I'm a little sad.

2023 Landscape #30

2023 Landscape #29

 mini original watercolor $225

What attracts me the most in this farm scene is the reflection in the water.

Showing off some of my paintings in special display settings. I love how they are set around and not always hung on the wall. Compliments of Mary Beth who has a wonderful mini collection.

AND they also look fabulous hung!!

Quote: The purpose of Art is washing the dust of daily life off our souls
- Pablo Picasso

We spent a few days last week in Ocean City NJ with friends and travel buddies. We had a little birthday celebration for our friend Betsy at La Fontana, excellent meal. The rest of the time was filled with games and good food and laughter. One hot day we did an underground mini golf. Thank you to this group for all their love and support.

On the way home we made a special stop in Kennett Square., PA  This fantastic sub shop is owned by the parents of Lititz clients.  One of my blessing meals came from here and I wanted to check it out.
Best subs ever!!

My August theme is "Looking Inside AND Looking Outside"

My August theme is "Looking Inside AND Looking Outside"

I am featuring a print "Alley Walkway"

This print has a certain magic. It features an extraordinary dance between the cool shadows inside and the warm sunlight outside. There is a feeling of being immersed in history. You are placed inside, standing in the shadows. You sense the cool dampness and you notice the patina on the worn floorboards. Looking out, your gaze catches the bright leggy geraniums. Soaking in the sunshine, you ponder what lies beyond the "Alley Walkway".

Edition: 450
Print only: $65.00
Framed print: $135.00    Framed Size: 18X24

Featuring an Original... "Sugar Plantation"

This is a room in St. Nicolas Abbey, a plantation in Barbados. I changed the view out the window to pay homage to the sugarcane and the windmills on the island.

Health Update: Thursday was my surgeon appointment.
He started the exam but stopped due to extreme radiation burns inside.
The next step is 8/28 I will go to Lancaster General hospital and be put under. He will do a thorough extensive exam, measurements and biopsy’s.
This will determine if there is still cancer, If there is enough room for a surgery reconnect or if I will need surgery for a permanent bag or if we can do nothing but extensive monitoring for a few years.  For the next 2 weeks I plan to show at The Craft Show, go to the beach with friends for 4 days and attend a wedding and simply not think ahead!  Continued prayers are appreciated.

Blessing Update:  WOW, this came in the mail today... with a beautiful note..."a friend even when you walk alone".    Beautiful.  THANK YOU Rich C.

2023 Window #10

 mini original watercolor $250.
Williamsburg,VA is always close to my heart!

I am planning to be at my 2nd show for the year...
The BIG Lititz Rotary Craft Show.
This Saturday from 8-4. FREE!
I am in my usual space B4 on the square (Broad Street) in front of the entrance to the Sutter's Courtyard.

Health Update: Tuesdays Oncology appointment went well.  He felt I did better than he hoped and he got me as far as he could.  The MRI showed nothing there!  There will be no more chemo or radiation.  Currently there is a 70% chance of it coming back.  He is handing me off to the surgeon on Thursday to discuss the next steps.  Decisions to make about surgery.  At the moment I have NO restrictions.  I may have a glass of wine and I may ride my bike (IF I can sit in the saddle!!)  The surgeon may have something different to say...

2023 Window #9

 mini original watercolor   $225.

Inside has a very interesting view. You need to study it a bit. You are looking through the corner of a bed post. I found this at Stratford Hall, VA. AND you are looking out a window to a muted view.

I am featuring my print "HERITAGE" as part of my August theme
"Looking Inside AND Looking Outside"

There is something special about an old home and the evidence of the past. I am fascinated with its balance with the present. The old is washed in todays sunshine, highlighting the character with all its flaws. I find pleasure in the story it tells about its history and heritage.

2023 Window #8

 mini original watercolor   $225.

I am being accused by Linda of really stretching the August theme, "Looking Inside AND Looking Outside" But I am standing my ground, there IS a window. It is just surrounded with a stone building and a great woodsy background!

Hanging Ideas: A few years ago I painted a special boat commission for Ann B.

I am always available for commissions!

Here is a totally different staircase from the one posted on 7/30.  A salon style from a special guy, John.
There are a few in there that are not mine but I am hanging all over his house.

My August theme is "Looking Inside AND Looking Outside"
This may be a stretch as a window theme BUT there IS a window! I would have to say the cardinal is the main focus, BUT there IS a window.

A busy week without time to Blog. I did do some painting. Several clients stopped in to pick up paintings.  I had an MRI. Results at my doctor appointment on Wednesday. The studio is coming along, drywall is finished and Linda started painting walls.  We had a nice dinner with the Woodruffs at the Mt. Gretna Hideaway

I received this...was totally surprised.

Blessing Update: Found a huge box of peaches on my porch, no note. We have been eating some and I am going to freeze some for my smoothies. THANK YOU!

Last week this arrived from Peg T.

And John delivered this to the art show on Saturday!

I took last week off from blogging so I could finish a larger painting.
"Rosa, Master Potter"
framed 20x23    NFS
I just entered her in the PA Watercolor Society International Show.  I have been wanting to paint Rosa for a while.  I met her at the Waterford Fair.

Lititz Art Show Update:  Saturday was the first show I have done all year.  I felt actually giddy at set up.  Linda lined up helpers so I would not get overly tired.  I wanted so badly to HUG everyone who I knew but was warned to only fist pump (not the same!).  Life felt normal for a few hours.  I had a good show and while it was hot (my weather) the storms held off.  Great day.

Hanging Ideas:  Two more clients shared photos of their collections.
My "When Life Gives You Lemons" painting looks perfect above this cabinet.

And check out this perfectly laid out staircase collection!
