Orvieto, Italy

4"x 6" Miniature Original
A Painting A Day... $250  SOLD!

Orvieto was one of my favorite hill towns.
A rich history dating back to
9-8 centuries B.C.
when it was occupied for the first time by
the Etruscans.

Montepulciano, Italy #1

4"x 6" Miniature Original
A Painting A Day... $250  SOLD!

The buildings have a mixture of ages because
they reuse the materials.
There is old...and then there is OLD!!
Welcoming steps in Montepulciano.

"1st place Watercolor" award!

I know, crazy... its the 4th of July but they

Rome #5

4"x 6" Miniature Original
A Painting A Day...   SOLD!

I cannot get over the age of buildings.
They just spruce it up with flowers!

So last weeks show was cancelled till tomorrow
due to rain.  They are calling for even worse
weather and the show is going on.  I moved indoors
which meant a much smaller space so I unpacked
and repacked the van...

June 27 - Saturday... you can find me:
The Church of the Mediator

Rome #4

4"x 6" Miniature Original
A Painting A Day...  $225  SOLD

Great Rome window...
If you have been to Europe you know they always have
their windows open, without screens. All the bugs and flies
must be living in the US.  I truly do not understand this.

Trip Update:
A morning of churches...
Santa Maria Maggiore, Santa Prassede and Santa Pudenziana.
Fantastic mosaics!  Followed by the afternoon at The Pantheon
Trevi Fountain, and the Spanish Steps.
The Trevi Fountain was under construction due to

Feyenoord fans became violent and caused permanent damage
So there was no water and not much to see.  The girls still threw
in their coins!

Rome #3

4"x 6" Miniature Original
A Painting A Day... $225

Italy, like much of Europe loves their
flowers.  They are everywhere in containers
and window boxes.  A scene we could see here
in the states except for the ancient steps and
post!

Trip update:
The Colosseum was on today's schedule.

Rome #2

4"x 6" Miniature Original
A Painting A Day... $225

I went with a street scene today.  Narrow streets
often one car wide.  I was constantly amazed
at the age of the buildings.  Roman times!!

Trip update:
On day two we had a guide at St. Peters.  There was limited
access because the Pope was speaking the next day.  We did
get right up close to the Pieta.  A highlight for all of us.
Next was an afternoon tour of St.John Laterna and Scala Santa.
Scala Santa was full of pilgrims crawling up the stairs on their
knees, one of the few churches that was quiet.
Our focus today was early Christianity with lots of churches!

Rome #1

5" x 5" Miniature Original
A Painting A Day...  SOLD!

The first in my vacation series: Rome, Italy
A simple scene you see everywhere.
Warm colors and flower filled window boxes.

As many of you already know we were blessed to take a
"trip of a lifetime"!
We were gone 24 tour packed
days.  The first 14 days were spent in Italy
with friends
Kathy and Bruce, my brother Carl and Beth and Rashetta.
Linda and Kathy planed our trip perfectly.  We arrived in Rome,
checked into our B&B and started
with a private tour of the Borghese
Gallery followed by a private evening tour of the
Vatican Museum.
Finishing at 10pm!
If you are interested, the girls picked

Arco del Lauro B&B in the Trastevere area and Context Travel as our
tour guides, these were in-depth guides that are
often professors.
 Excellent exhausting first day.
