2014 Chickadee

4"x 6" Original Miniature Original Watercolor
$225.00  SOLD!

This chickadee is a bit looser than my usual
style because I was using it as a demonstration
for class.

Today was snow makeup day for classes.
I am getting tired of spending all my time

inside...

2014 Cat

4"x 6" Original Miniature Original Watercolor

I have been wanting to paint one of my cats for
a while and could not resist this one.

outside.

2014 Cape May Series #3

5"x 5" Original Miniature Original Watercolor
SOLD!
This is a backyard I found while walking the
side streets of Cape May, NJ.  Lots of detail
and fun colors.

We are back from our last mini vacation
before starting into the show season.
Over the weekend we went on our annual
outing with two other couples, this time to
Washington, DC.  I can recommend
The Hotel Lombardy, very nice staff.
Excellent meals at Founding Farmers,
Capital City Brewing Co. Old Ebbitt Grill
and Deluxe Diner.
We toured the US Capital,
the Library of Congress (this is a must see!)
and the National Cathedral (another must see!)
Also finally got to the Kennedy Center and
saw "Sheer Madness"  for a night of laughter.
Excellent weekend away.

2014 Cape May Series #2

4"x 6" Original Miniature Original Watercolor
SOLD!

Cape May Lighthouse in January.

I am ignoring the snow today!
Even though I spent plenty of time
shoveling.  I also had two students
show up for class this morning.

2014 Winter Series #10

4"x 6" Original Miniature Original Watercolor
$225.00

Not exactly our outside reality... this view was
from a week ago.  Right now there is pretty
much snow outside.  I like the red against the
landscape.

Only had one morning student for class and
I am thinking none tonight which means a
make up class.   This is a far cry from setting

on the beach a few days ago!
Yes we are bundled
up but the sun was shining.
Notice the Cape May lighthouse
at my head!

2014 Cape May Series #1

5"x 5" Original Miniature Original Watercolor
$200

This is the bottom of the Cape May, NJ Lighthouse.
I simply enjoyed the colors and the sunshine.  I plan
to paint the whole view but I liked the feel of the
unknown here...

We were blessed to spend three full days at the beach.
Thank you to a good friend who lent us their beach house.
The weather co-operated and I was able to get some
photos for inspiration.  We ate well and rested.  We are
home for three days and then headed to Washington DC
with two other couples who get together once a year.
I am a little worried about my classes and the snow
tomorrow...

2014 Winter Series #8

4"x 6" Original Miniature Original Watercolor
SOLD!
More melting snow...

I had another class this morning and then
met with some track kids for a bit of winter

conditioning.   We are headed to Cape May
tomorrow for a long quiet weekend.   I plan
to paint and Linda is planning to read.  A few
good meals out and a walk on the beach.
Leaving our house sitter in charge of the house

the cats and the parents!

2014 Winter Series #7

6" x 4" Original Miniature Original Watercolor
SOLD!

I love the look of melting snow in a field,
the way it lays in the plowed rows.
This is a Lititz farm.  I can handle painting
"melting" snow!

I am lucky to have Linda do all the parts of a
painting business that artists (me) do not think
of, or if they think of it they hate it!
Over the past few days she has been closing
out my year on the computer, gathering all
totals for taxes.  All receipts neatly boxed.
Found the box for 2002 and shredded it, evidently
we need to keep 7-10 years worth of records.
Who knew!!  As an artist we barely care about that
kind of thing.
She tried to WOW me with a balance
sheet and
year to date expense sheet!  I hope I
looked
impressed!
She printed all new sheets to keep
track of shows
and expenses. She can tell me what
I did at
every show for 20 years!  We also had a
"business"
meeting about shows... and I must say
she is being unusually
reasonable.  She threw out
Cherry Creek, CO and
after I freaked out about the
drive and amount of
gas (think about the amount of
gas for 1658 miles one way and 24 hrs of driving)
anyway she just smiled and informed me it was
just a
test to see if I would go for it. Trust me,
If I had said OK she would be booking it! I prefer
my role,
which is to paint, simply paint.  And I am also
teaching right now.  I have a new student who is
French and from the Bordeaux area and Linda spent
a half hour talking to her and I just know she is
longing for a trip back to France... oh my...

2014 Still Life #2

6" x 4" Original Miniature Original Watercolor
SOLD

More pears.   Just because they are here!

We had a nice weekend.  We really do not get too
many free weekends with our show schedule.  So
Linda has lots she likes to try to do when we are
off.  Saturday night we went to hear the group
Vinyl Groove at the Hollywood Casino.  Not much
of a casino man so it is always interesting to watch
everyone gamble away their money.  We chose
to dance our way through two sets.  This band is
excellent and polished if you like Motown.  We plan
to see them again.

2014 Still Life #1

6" x 4" Original Miniature Original Watercolor
$225.00

I told you I simply could not face another
"winter scene" today.  Especially since it snowed
this morning.  So... a pear

2014 Winter Series #6

5"x 5" Original Miniature Original Watercolor
$250.00

I like that the snow is melting!

I think tomorrow I will paint fruit.
Get my mind off winter and cold and snow.

2014 Winter Series #5

6" x 4" Original Miniature Original Watercolor
$225.

Lancaster County, PA in snow.

This morning I had my Men's prayer breakfast
then home in time to teach another good class.
Painted all afternoon, ran Linda for some groceries.
Pretty much my day.

2014 Winter Series #4

6" x 4" Original Miniature Original Watercolor
SOLD

Evergreens become magnificent in winter.
The snow seems to highlight them.
In traditional watercolor all white it the paper,

not white paint.  So painting becomes a puzzle!

My classes started today, most everyone
showed up even in the extreme cold.
We ended up with a broken pipe in my bike room
at 3:00 today.  Water everywhere, my poor wet
bikes!  My favorite brother-in-law came to my
rescue.  He is a very hot blooded guy and showed
up in shorts.  Here we are in Bomberger's Store,
walking together, Mr. shorts and a long sleeve
shirt and me in a heavy coat, scarf, hat, gloves...
Heads were turning until some guy made a comment.
We looked pretty cute I am sure.

2014 Winter Series #3

4"x 6" Original Miniature Original Watercolor
$225.

I really do not know how much winter I can handle.
Tired of it already!

I rode my roller indoors this morning.  I set up
the room for my classes and then painted the rest
of the day.  Linda had another full day filling out
show applications.  She also has a partial schedule
posted on my website.  Classes start tomorrow.

2014 Winter Series #2

5"x 5" Original Miniature Original Watercolor
SOLD!

Winter...

Like everyone else I spent most of my day
shoveling.  Dug out three cars, made much
harder by the snow plows.  Dug some extra
spaces because my classes start on Tuesday
and I think there is a slim chance it will all
melt by then. And then my long, long sidewalk.
Came in and warmed up and then painted
"Winter".  I am already pretty tired of it!

2014 Winter Series #1

6"x 4" Original Miniature Original Watercolor
SOLD!

Winter, painting today as the snow is coming down.

Linda has show applications spread all over her
desk.  I mentioned the price of gas several times
in hopes she has her wanderlust under control!
Being housebound in a snow storm is not going to
help!

2013 Holiday #7

4"x 6" Original Miniature Original Watercolor
SOLD!

Ok, this is my last Holiday painting for the
season.   All our Christmas items are officially

packed up and I have moved on in my mind.
Especially with the impending snow storm!

Watercolor classes start next week.  I have
several options so check it out.
