2012 Flower Study #1

4"x 6" miniature original watercolor  ~  SOLD

Ok, here I go... stepping out of my comfort zone.
I am resigned to painting flowers... orchids.
After an inspiring trip to Longwood Gardens
I am challenging myself to master the flower.
Or get close to "ok" as I can!

Here I am "studying" my subjects.

2012 Brick study

4" x 6" original watercolor
$225.00  Contact the studio
I usually put much detail into my bricks and
this time I experimented with an impression
of bricks.  It is the sunlight that makes this painting.

I had to push myself a bit today.  Was not really
in the mood.  But I still taught two classes and
painted.  Tomorrow is the first flower from Longwood.
This is truly a stretch for me, I do only a few flowers.

2012 Red Barn #4

6"x 4" miniature original

I will admit this one is a stretch, there is a corner
of a red gate.  I got hung up on the tree line.  It was on
the same property and it looks really good with the other
three!

Went to the Orchid Exhibit at Longwood Gardens
today.  I thought I would be a little bored but I
really got into the whole flower thing. Took lots
of photos and I think I may do a flower series next
week!  Finished packing for my show tomorrow.

2012 Red Barn #3

5"x 5" miniature original
SOLD!

More red... while not actually a barn, they are red
outbuildings.  I also liked the winter sky and woods
in the background.  From the New Paltz, NY area.
This is turning into a strong series.

Teaching two classes again today.  I love my classes,
each one has its own atmosphere.   I ran a few errands
in the afternoon, a visit with my Mom and back to
painting.

My show season is in full swing...
this weekend I am in Delaware:

2012 Red Barn #1

6"x4" Miniature Original
SOLD

I am concentrating on red barns this week.
Simply for a different study and focus.
From the Carroll County, MD area.

I was absent from blogging all last week, Linda
had a bad cough and head cold so I blatantly used
this as an excuse to goof off a bit under the guise
of taking care of her! I know she is sick when she
isn't paying any attention to what I am doing!!
I did teach 5 classes and exhibited in the Fire & Ice
Festival over the weekend.
This photo was taken by Terri Shadle, photographer at the Fire & Ice Festival.
My steady hand working on a miniature
as a demonstration. Red barn blog for later
this week!

2012 Still Life #2

4"x 6" original watercolor

A little Shaker basket...

We had a nice weekend in N.J. The show was ok,
it is so hard having the "old days" to compare to.
I first did the CBA show in 1986... the best artists
did it then, and the sales were great.  Now it is a shell
of its former self.  I still did ok with the support from a
few clients.  We stayed with friends and had a very
nice time.  Had a fantastic dinner at Matisse in Belmar
NJ.  Today I started a new Monday class at Luther
Acres Retirement Home here in Lititz.  I charmed
6 ladies into painting apples!  I enjoyed myself.
February classes start tomorrow and they are full.
Might work a bit more tonight on a large painting...

What a beautiful day!  I can handle winter when
its like this!!   I had my men's prayer meeting at
6:30am, came home and painted till 12:30.
We had a meeting to get my website updated
and were back home in time for Linda to
"putter" in the garden.  She cut a few things down,
just enough to get her hands dirty.  I managed a
quick bike ride and finished my blog and its
only 7pm.  I plan to work on my larger painting
tonight.
