Collector Series on YouTube

My latest video is now posted on YouTube.  It is called "Andy Smith Collector Series" and the first guest collector is Rose Ellen.  She has collected my work for the past 20 years.  I can say she truly loves her paintings and they look stunning in her home.  Click HERE to watch the video.  It is only 1.51 minutes short so enjoy!  I thank Rich for doing a great job filming and editing and the soundtrack is a recording of him on his baritone guitar, how cool is that!  Linda is thinking it was worth every penny so she does not have to do it.  I have a few more lined up after I pay off this one!

I did not have time to paint my blog today.  It was errands day.  We picked up an order of frames, then went for a pedicure. Yes, I get a pedicure and I am not too proud to say my sad dogs feel wonderful when they are finished.   A few years ago Linda twisted my arm and dragged me in kicking and screaming.  After the first time, getting over being one of the only men in there... now I love it.  Oh, the things you hear.  A woman scheduled a back wax for her husband...ouch... now that made me feel pretty lucky, I'll do my feet anytime!  Back to the errands; checked on the camper, stopped for pretzels and then to the grocery store.  A full day.  I did start the drawing for a small commission.  Sending that for approval.  It's a gift so I cannot post it for a while.

Reminder:  Saturday I will be at booth 153 near the pavilions.  The weather should be perfect for a day in the park.  Come see me!

Cloud work!

Today Rich filmed my 1st Collector video for YouTube.  It was fun to watch him work and Rose Ellen did a great job explaining what her paintings mean to her.  Linda was just relieved it was not her job to film!  Can't wait to see the results.  I will post as soon as it is ready.

July Backyard open this weekend

I just realized how long it has been since I was able to blog...  8 days.  So here is a recap.  We had the RV out for 5 days last week.  Had my 2nd show of the year.  Normally I would have attended 15 shows.  Wow, let that sink in.  While Winterthur weather was brutal it was a pretty good show for me. Home to laundry and unpacking the van.  Lots of framing for this weekends Backyard Show.  Meanwhile Linda bought a used set of beautiful kitchen cabinets that took 5 of us and a huge trailer to pick up.  But before we could get them we had to clean out our garage. I think I am being played, cleaning the garage has been on Linda's list all year and I have tried to avoid it.   Suddenly I own cabinets that must be stored there.   I mean totally empty to make temporary room.  Are you seeing how this is going?  This undertaking took a whole day.   Our kitchen remodel was not even on the list for this year but I am guessing there is a change in priority!  In the 8 days we were away Linda's flower beds became a mess, according to her and needed hours of work.  She has been going out each morning at 6:30am to beat the heat.   I am finishing a larger painting that I want to frame tomorrow.  And tomorrow is backyard set up, that's an all day affair.

Show weekend at Winterthur in Delaware!

My space is  #6 on the West Side (Clenny Run)   I will have four new originals and a full compliment of prints.  Stop in and see me.  Rain or Shine or Heat!!

No painting today, spent my day gathering my show equipment,  getting the RV and packing.  We are going to camp before the show.  Meeting my brother and his wife for dinner, first time seeing them in over a year.  And topping it off with a new show this weekend in a fantastic location.  Linda is not looking forward to the heat and sitting outside...  I like the heat however todays humidity may have been too much for even me.

Finally a still life, I have not been inside anywhere except the grocery store in forever!  Last week we stopped in to a friends house and I took a few photos.  This is their beautiful window seat.  I think she made  the cushion and pillows.  Just felt nice to paint something that was not a landscape.

I am running a bit late today,  time just got away from me.   I had the oil changed in the suburban, a very nice young couple from MD stopped in and we chatted for a long time, I took Linda to the store and somewhere in between there I painted.  My goal is to post at 7pm... usually I make it!

That said, I finished this Lancaster County scene over the weekend.
"Lancaster County Vista"       Framed 22x12      $875.

Not exactly a beach but beach related and I will probably do more beach paintings later. While at the beach last week our friend Kathy found this beautiful scallop shell and gave it to Linda.  The back story is the girls are always talking about walking the
El Camino de Santiago and the white scallop shell has meaning.  If you are unfamiliar click the links it is very interesting.  She saved it and suggested it would make an interesting painting... testing my skills as always!  I think it turned out well.  This also shows you can find inspiration anywhere.

FYI: there is a good movie about walking the El Camino caller "The Way" with Martin Sheen (2012), worth your time.
