2010 Winter Series #17 ~ bench in the snow

4"x6" Original Watercolor
SOLD

This is the porch from the Windflower
Inn in Great Barrington, MA. We spent a
few very nice days with good friends.
Don't let the shining sun fool you, there
was lots of snow! The porch was shoveled
but you can see little piles on the side.

Rookiepainter "monthly challenge #2"
is below... The first is my painting and below
it is the photo they gave for the challenge. Not
what I would have chosen to do but I am up
to the challenge!

Firstly, thank you Andy for your kind words about my work and for your advice. I have to say watercolors are, and always have been, my favorite medium. I keep practicing and will try to hone in on the one medium. I truly think that the biggest problem I face is in the drawing itself. Saying it out loud partly encourages me to really get back to the basics.

I love this beautiful painting. I always react to the art first, even before reading your words. I really love the pew bench on the porch and found myself wondering at what type of beauty was housed within the walls. Imagine my surprise to hear that this is an inn. I know that it must be just as lovely inside as it is out.

Hi Andy, Both are lovely paintings, but I think you should do a big one of the one of the Inn. I love the warm glow on the porch. And the pew bench is a good symbol that we are all praying for warmer weather. That could be the title. You did a good job on the challenge, too. Happy Painting.
