Another Friday...

I get to share some good news tonight. Our daughter, Abbey
is now employed! She will be working for the
National Museum of Woman in the Arts in Washington, DC.
Her title is "Development Assistant".
Check it out... http://www.nmwa.org Ben has had several second
interviews and our fingers are crossed. I am hoping to share his
good news next week. They found an apartment which they
promise me is in a safe area! Things are falling into place for them.

Track: We had another rainy track meet this week.
The girls won and the boys lost. We are having a good season.

Painting: I am still pleased with the way my painting is progressing.
This type of schedule does awesome things for my skill level. I
can feel the difference.

Show: Saturday I will be exhibiting at the
Lewisburg Arts Festival.
Held along Market Street in Lewisburg, PA.
10 to 5 ~ rain or shine!
We leave at 4 am so I am off to bed...

A Stream in the Woods

This paintings requires the viewer to look closely.
There is a dynamic perspective at play. The gentle
flow of the stream the leads you back into the painting.
The background shows the sun through the trees and
a bridge. To add a playful side, notice the black lab swimming
away from you causing ripples in the water.

Joe Pye Weed and Butterfly

My focus while painting this piece was to show depth.
To give the viewer a true sense of being in a garden.
The tricky part was to have the variety of greens
without the painting turning muddy.
The butterfly adds motion and life.

Another Friday...

The sadness at VA Tech reminds us all to treasure
our days with our loved ones. That is hard to remember
when we get caught up in our daily grind... Our car needed
to be towed to the garage, it snapped a rod of some sort.
We squeezed some volunteer time into our local food bank.
Mom Smith needed to be taken to the hairdresser ~ a half
day ordeal ! Just our own usual grind.

Painting: Another good week. I am very happy with
this weeks subjects. These paintings may be small but they
are impressive. Remember to spread the blog info!

Track: I need to brag a bit. Last Saturday there was
19 teams at ELCO. Our boys took 2nd and our girls took 5th!
Tuesdays meet was also a win for both. I am so proud of the kids.

I plan to ride my bike tomorrow. So no visits to the studio, I
will be out enjoying the warm weather! This is my last
weekend home for a while. Starting next week its back to the shows.
