Just a nice still life...

Scotland Update:
Today was spent driving around Loch Ness and I'm sad to report there were no Nessie sightings!
Loch Ness is a fresh water lake, 23 miles long and over 1 mile deep.

I am walking up a hill for a better view.  Scots are big walkers and in fact have a law that allows you to walk on ALL land...respectfully and at your own risk.  Don't mess with animals, walk on the side of crops and close the gate behind you!  Very interesting.

Fabulous views everywhere you turn...
Back for another night in Inverness.  We finished our day with a stop at St. Andrews Cathedral. 1866 a bit worn.  But a stop at the famous Leakeys Bookshop.  Packed with used books and people!

Now lets talk birthdays... Linda celebrated a milestone yesterday!  I managed to surprise her with earrings from Scotland, flowers and a wonderful dinner at the Log Cabin, they had a nice little Happy Birthday note with a small bag of Wilbur Buds on the table.  nice job.

Flowers, cards and a cupcake kept arriving, phone was ringing with wishes.   She did not want a party but this all made it nice.

2025 Scotland #2

$135 (unframed) 4x6 mini original watercolor
Available to the 1st person to email
(framing 8x10  $35 - shipping available at cost)
If unsold by 7/17 the price goes to $225

A window from Queensferry Scotland.

We have been super busy.  I had a good show at Glendale Flour Mill.  Loved sitting among all the antiques.  Sunday we had tickets to Mount Gretna to hear The Gesualdo Six.  What fantastic voices. Today is Linda's birthday and I am taking her to The Log Cabin for dinner.

Meanwhile I want to take you through another day in Scotland...
Edinburgh to Inverness.  The first stop was Tibbermore Church.  This is the one I painted. It is in Perth, Scotland dating to the 1600's  It became famous for the filming of the witch trials in the movie Outlander.
Linda, our guide Steve (rocking his family kilt) and Beth standing under the arch.

Next is a wee walk in the woods at The Hermitage.  Beautiful walk with waterfalls.

From here we stopped at Cairngorms National Park to see the Reindeer.  This was on Linda's list but was a bit of a disappointment. There were 3 Reindeer laying down in the back of the pasture and the rest way out in the field where you could not see them.  Do not put this on your to see list!    On to Culloden Battlefield.  Excellent Visitors Center.
We finished a long day at the Clava Cairns.  Clava Cairns are a well-preserved Bronze Age cemetery complex of passage graves; ring cairns, kerb cairns and standing stones in a beautiful setting.    From 2000BC!
Linda has a thing for standing rocks... we go out of our way to see them in several countries.
Guide Steve and Linda chatting about stones!

New paintings...

I have some NEW larger paintings to share.

We just spent a week in Westmoreland, PA for a very long hot show.
I finished two paintings at the show!

Sterling Castle in the Rain
I love the view, inside the castle looking out over the landscape on a rainy day.  Stirling is considered the most important castle in Scotland.  "He who holds Stirling, holds Scotland..."
framed 20x22  $1800.

Tibbermore Parish Church
We had the whole place to ourselves! This church is near Perth, Scotland dating to the 1600's
It became famous for the filming of the witch trials in the movie Outlander.
I fell in love with the light across the pews.
framed 13x15  $950.

I also finished this one...
Route 501 View
Lititz, the view from the light at Giant, looking across Rt 501. I LOVE that field!
framed 21x15  $975.

And one more...
Still Life Antiques
framed 11x9  $400

Yesterday Linda went for a cortisone shot in her hip.  She goes to Rothman in Limerick, PA.  Fantastic ortho, Dr. Carl Deirmengian and his equally fantastic assistant Patrick.  They replaced Linda's hip and two knees a few years ago; she had 3 surgeries in one year!   I gave a painting of  Dr. D. as a thank you gift for a great job.  Yesterday I walked into the office and saw it hanging... he said he loved the job I did on his scrubs!  Pretty cool.

Busy day

Busy day, Linda needed to go to her Ortho to have her hip looked at.
Arthritic Flareup.  Better than needing a replacement.  Meds for now then a shot in July.  If it doesn't help then an MRI to dig farther. Then lunch at Limoncello as a treat .  I also have a commission I need to finish this week so Scotland paintings are on the back burner..

Day #2 in Scotland
We started in Calton Hill a UNESCO site.

Beautiful views of Edinburgh.

Off to Rosslyn Chapel, a highlight...founded in 1446, say that again...1446!    They did not allow you to take photos inside.

But I found this to show you the magnificent carvings.

Off to Melrose, that's the Leaderfoot Viaduct behind us.

We had to wait till a bike race went through the street we were on.  I enjoyed it, the rest of the group not so much!  Back in Edinburgh for dinner at  Angels with Bagpipes and to bed.

2025 Scotland #1

mini original watercolor  $225
Queensferry, a town to the west of Edinburgh.  Beautiful stone and Chimneys everywhere.

We decided to go with Personal Tours of Scotland with Brian.  There was 5 of us; Me and Linda, my brother Carl and his wife Beth and our good friend Joan with a driver/guide.  I am SO glad I was not driving!  After Brian picked us up at the airport we dug right in.   Stopped for coffee in Queensferry.  Walked the beach and found sea glass.  Great view of the Forth Bridge (UNESCO site)

Brian sporting his family kilt and Linda with the famous red bridge.

Off to Dean Village  and a walk...

Our gang

We dropped our luggage and its off to explore the sights and sounds (bagpipes) along the Royal Mile in Edinburgh.  I love bagpipes!

Next is exploring the Castle and fantastic views of the city.

Not finished yet...St. Giles Cathedral.  We came in on the tale end of some singing.  (Linda loves exploring churches)

Dinner at Piggs. A little Spanish Tapas in Scotland but it did not disappoint.  Now time to fall into bed!
We stayed at Adagio Edinburgh Royal Mile.
