Garfield Monument Staircase

6"x 4" Watercolor
$225. Contact the Studio
I am intrigued by these stairs. They are
from The Garfield Monument in Ohio.
Similar to the steps in a lighthouse I simply
wanted to see if I could pull off the perspective.

Shaker Village Still Life #2

5"x 5" Watercolor
$200.00 ~ Contact the Studio
Wooden Shaker boxes have such a simple
design and understated color.

Linda bought a "light box" for me to take my
photo's in. Sounds so easy... I should have
much clearer photos of my paintings...
We will see, bare with me while I experiment!

We are back home after 6 days away!
The Franciscan Monastery was a bit of a
disappointment. Just not what Linda was
hoping for, she thinks maybe around Easter
time would be better but I don't think we'll
go back. We did a quick walk around the
grounds and then changed plans and headed
to an old favorite of ours called
Kenilworth Aquadic Gardens. Its in a really
rough end of DC but worth the drive, just lock
your doors! I took about 100 photos of water
lilies in every color possible!
Thursday, Abbey went with us to Hillwood Estate
which was excellent but I did not take many
photos. It was great seeing Abbey and Ben.
Then it was off to Portsmouth VA for a show.
Great weather, so-so crowds and so-so sales.
I did get a painting almost finished...

Below is a photo of me painting at the
Seawall Art Show in VA. The photo was
taken by Alvin Swilley...
thank you!

Shaker Village Still Life #1

4"x 6" Watercolor
SOLD

This is the first of my studies from the
KY Shaker Village. I LOVE this place.
It has subjects at every turn. It is my
favorite time period and I love the Shaker
clean lines. The painting speaks for itself
no commentary needed.

Packed and ready to head out in the morning.
Linda planned a little time with our daughter
in DC. We are going to stop and see
Franciscan Monastery ~ they are known for their
gardens. Then go to Abbeys apartment for the
evening. Ben started his law classes so we will not
see much of him. Thursday Abbey is going with us
to Hillwood Estate. Then dinner in the city.
Friday we drive to Portsmouth, VA and set up for
the show. Show Sat. and Sun. and drive home on
Monday.

The Show:
SEAWALL ART SHOW
Aug. 28 & 29
Held at High Street Landing in Olde Towne
Portsmouth, VA.
Sat. 10-6 and Sun. 10-5 FREE Admission
My space is #45 on the corner of High & Water St.

2010 Window Study #5

5"x5" Watercolor
SOLD

These studies help sharpen my skills for
the larger paintings. While you do not
actually see the window you can tell the
window is there based on the shadows.
A copper funnel and a pottery bowl add
a little interest.
Since we had a bit of rain at the Mt Gretna
show, I needed to dry my rugs and vac
them. I rearranged the van for the next
show. We are planning to visit Abbey in
DC Wednesday night and Thursday then
leave from there for our show in Portsmouth
VA. Spread the word to all your VA friends,
they can see me at the Seawall Art Show.

Barn at Hale Farm

6"x 4" watercolor
SOLD

This place was a gold mine of subjects for me.
Who doesn't like the color "barn red"! There is
a hint of a stone building on the left, maybe a
spring house, and an over all nice pastoral
scene.

These miniature paintings have all the detail
of my larger paintings. You do not have to
hang them, I have clients that just set them
around. They look great on a bookshelf!

My watercolor classes start in 20 days...
If you want to tweak your style I am happy
to help and if you are a beginner I can get you
started! If you just want to sit and paint, that
works too! For more info, call or email.

Grand Staircase

4"x 6" watercolor

Another view from Hale Farm in OH.
It feels like you can walk right in and
climb the steps. The values are warm
with little extras to see like the hanging
light and the drapes.

Friday Check in...

I finished my latest larger painting today
instead of working on a small blog painting.

Image:19" X13" ~ Circle of Life $1800. SOLD

My ego had been stroked last weekend, someone told
the promoter at the KY show it was a big deal getting
me to come to their show and my work was fabulous etc,
I could hear my name being whispered around.
Then I delivered prints to a hospital in Ohio and they
organized a reception for me with the doctors which
was a total surprise. But so I do not get to swelled a head,
I have a local craft show tomorrow and went to
find my space... I am in the back of the park, off
to the side, in front of the swings! I had to laugh.
No special preference here! Keeps me humble!
The Show:
Big Lititz Craft Show ~ Saturday 8/14
I am in the Lititz Spring Park, near the playground,
2nd row in front of the swings!
8AM-4PM ~ FREE!

2010 Pottery #6

6"x 4" Original Watercolor
SOLD

This painting looks so much better in person.
It simply did not photo well. Because I want
to paint a few larger paintings that focus on
pottery, I have been really taking my time
studying the different glazes and shapes.
This one also features a tin shaker.

The photo below is from The Shaker Show in
KY this past weekend. Photo compliments of
our client Leah.

Your favorite artist hard at work!

If you are planning your weekend...
The giant Lititz Craft show is on Saturday.
I have a new spot again, in the Park,
second row in front of the swings.

Wednesday check in...

No painting today. Simply was not time.
Had a hose replaced on the van, ran a few
errands, visited my Mom, mowed the lawn,
packed the van and finally here I am
washing and waxing the van and popup
before it gets dark!

Thank goodness the camper has airconditioning!
We leave in the morning, a 10 hr drive, then set
up the camper. Friday we set up the booth and
tour The Shaker Village.
THE SHOW:
15th Annual Shaker Village Craft Show
Held on the grounds of Pleasant Hill
3501 Lexington Rd Harrodsburg, KY
Sat. 9:30-5 and Sun. 10-4:30

Monday we pack up and drive 6 hours to our
friends in Cuyahoga Falls, Ohio.
Tuesday we deliver an order in Cleveland and
finish the cemetary tour which we have been to
twice and are still not through it!
Wednesday is a 6 hour drive home.
Sure wish the gas prices would go down....

Wooden Bowl

6"x4" Watercolor
SOLD
Wood is a different texture and shading
than painting pottery bowls. My painting
process remains the same. A good drawing,
underpainting, dry thoroughly, more layers
of color building the patina. It is the building
of color that I love.

I unpacked the van so it can go to the garage
for a gasket. I need to repack tomorrow and
be ready to roll out of here early Thursday
morning. We have a 10 hour drive to KY.
This is Linda's idea of fun, I'm just the driver!

2010 Pottery #5

4" X 6" Watercolor
$100.00 to the first person to call or email
available until Wednesday 8/4 at 8PM EST
SOLD at 8:28pm 8/2!

I do love pottery! Actually this looks brighter
in person. If you are local you may come
look at it.

It was my pleasure to meet several more
PA Daily Painters this past weekend at
the Lititz Show. Nice to put a face to all the
paintings!

Spread the word to all your friends in KY.
I will be at the Shaker Village in Harrodsburg
KY this weekend!
