How can this chair and room be so different than yesterdays chair?   The difference is between the family living areas and the helps rooms. Help... by the time Stratford Hall was completed around 1742, an estimated 200 enslaved Africans and African Americans were living at Stratford and other properties owned by Thomas Lee.

Health Update:

Friday: I am half way through radiation!   #17 finished with 17 more to go. 
We celebrated with lunch at Ciros with friends the Howses.

Saturday:  I had a little bleeding issue so was sent for bloodwork.  I heard nothing back so I guess it was not a big deal and could wait till Monday, meanwhile Doctor Linda thought there was not much change in my bloodwork so I am dealing with another issue...same conclusion, wait till Monday.

Our new tenant moved in and the studio got insulation!  A busy Saturday.

We had  little date night at Mount Gretna summer concerts. Went to see the Maxwell Project! Even managed one dance! We danced to these original guys when we first met in 1979- early 80's, at the Village in Lancaster! Nice evening, good to feel normal for 2 hours!  As a bonus my walker from 3/24, Todd Fulginiti  was playing with them, he plays a mean trumpet.

Sunday: Lunch with friends the Woodruffs at Mad Chef.  Back home to spend the whole afternoon napping.  I did not know I was that tired, maybe a little too much excitement for a weekend!

Andy Walkers Update: I had a surprise walker yesterday. My buddy Bruce W. We have been "couple" friends for years, since the day he married Linda's friend Kathy. I walked with Kathy back on June 5 and now it was his turn. I mentioned then that Bruce and I have ridden bikes in Italy, got a driving violation on our bikes in Ohio and have had several bike accidents together! This is that guy! They are our travel buddies, we have been to France, Italy, Ireland and all over the US together. Bruce is another good man in my life that I know I can depend on for anything.  A walker AND a blessing!

Health Update: I have had 10 radiation sessions and 23 more to go. So far I am handling it well. I gained 6lbs (the Doctor asked for 10, hedging against my losing more with radiation, so not bad). My blood work has not improved but it is not critical. Over all I am doing better than expected; I say that cautiously since it is expected to get harder as they accumulate.  But for now, I am doing well.   Anyone who wants to walk I am available after 12 noon most days.

I love the angles on this...the parquet floor, an open door. I had a great time painting this one. The paper kept fighting me, soaking up my color but not the strength I wanted, making it hard to get the values I was looking for. This is from Stratford Hall, VA.

2023 Water #4 ~ Pine Tree Lake

The sunsets over the lake were stunning. The sun was a fireball that left an orange-pink streak across the lake.


Andy Walkers Update: While in the Poconos, my walker for two mornings was Kathy W.
She was Linda's co-worker at Doneckers in 1980. A 43 year friendship! Her husband Bruce and I have ridden bikes in Italy, got a driving violation on our bikes in Ohio and have had several bike accidents together. We often travel together and spent laughter and a few tears together.  I love the sound of Kathy and Linda laughing!  Kathy is one of the kindest and sweetest people I know and one of the few I would let pick ticks off me after walking in the woods!

I LOVE this one, it was simply fun to paint. Henryville, PA  (Poconos) driving back to our Air B&B after dinner.


Health Update Phase 2: I now have 2 of 33 radiation with chemo pills under my belt (so to speak!) My routine is breakfast then 5 chemo pills (another 5 at dinner). I must drink 24oz of water 1 hour before my 10:15am appointment. Then lay on my water filled stomach for the 15 minutes of zapping.  Monday through Friday with the weekend off. This takes me to July 11. So far other than loss of appetite and food not tasting like food I am feeling ok.

Since I cannot and should not show a photo in radiation, you need to be a trained professional to see that! Linda took one outside.

Sadly my hopes of riding bike are still on hold...I am to continue to walk for my mental health, I am calling it exercise and counting every mile!
Linda is scheduling "ANDY WALKERS" for the next 2 weeks any time after 12 noon,

Our RV is still available...and so is our apartment! We thought both were taken over the weekend but both must be meant for someone else.

A bit about our Pocono trip... we made a stop at the Boulder Fields at Hickory Run State Park.
We had been here before but its worth the stop.

We had a couple of good meals... Barley Creek was good, Stone Bar Inn was ok,
Peppe's Bistro was very good (ate there twice) and the best was Ravyn & Robyn
and a good breakfast at Farm House Eatery.  I was told to gain 10lbs so eating was
a focus!
