Poppy

4"x 6" watercolor
 $200. ~ Contact the studio  ~ SOLD!

I actually painted this "plein air" today.
Linda was out working in the garden and
I went out and sat at the table.  I noticed
the poppies are beautiful and bold and
screaming to me! So I decided to paint
plein air.

We are having nasty storms tonight which
makes me a bit uncomfortable about the
weekend.  I set up tomorrow morning.
Nothing like your whole livelihood sitting
under a tent in a storm...
Harrisburg, I hope you are planning to come out
and see me!

Basket painting

Original Watercolor
Image: 17x20"  ~ Framed: 20x23"
Untitled!  (suggestions welcome)

I was away at a 4-day show with two days of
rain!  I had this basket started and since I had
electric (I could use my hair dryer) I was able
to finish it even though it was damp.  I love the
way it turned out.  I planned to do a blog painting
today but I unpacked the van, went Costco shopping
with Linda, mowed the lawn even though it was
wet and 10' high!  It was nice to have dinner with
the family tonight since track is over.

Thurdsay check in...

No painting today.  Packed the van.
Left a 2pm for our last Invitational Track Meet.
Both boys and girls took 5th place out of 18
teams.  It was a very wet meet.  That's it for the
season.  Now I need to concentrate on painting.

I am off to Wilkes-Barre, PA

11am-5pm Sunday

Lancaster Sunset

6"x 4" Original Watercolor
$200. contact the studio  ~  SOLD

I have always found our sunsets and sunrises
interesting.  Shades of color I am not sure are
even in my palette.  There is a fine line where
it does not even look real.  Every now and then I
like to try my hand at it.

Last track practice today.  I am hoping the weather
holds out so we can have the big invitational tomorrow.

Two Bottles

6"x4" original watercolor
Studio price: $125.00   SOLD!

I concentrated on an exercise with glass and light.
This is an obscure set of angles; tops of clear glass bottles
sitting inside a box in front of a window.  The colors are
close but the contrasts are extreme giving great depth.
I was looking for a good study to challenge my artistic side
since I had a one week break from painting.
Below is my study sketch.

Track update: The season is almost over...
I am down to only one more day of track practice and then
Wednesday is the big district invitational.

Show update:  This week is "Artist Market at Fiesta"
held at Public Square in downtown Wilkes-Barre, PA
Thursday through Sunday...  FREE!  Rain or shine!

Tuesday check in

I am taking a few days off.  No...not a vacation.
There are just things I need to catch up on.
The honey-do list needs attention!
Open House went well.  Go to my website: www.andysmithartist.com
to see what is still available.  Orders gladly taken!   Yesterday
was spent taking every thing down and putting the house and
studio back  together. I also packed for this weekends show...
which by the way is in Chester County PA.  American Treasures in Lyndell.
Craftsman at the top of their game, plus me,
demonstrations, and its all FREE!   This is a great time to bring
the family and expose the kids to great art and crafts.
As for today, we took the whole day to empty and powerwash
our pond.  See the master powerwasher below.

O Come All Ye Faithful

"O Come All Ye Faithful"
20x22 framed ~ $1800.00

I finished it!  Stayed up till the wee hours of the morning
and I gave up my morning bike ride to work on it.
I have this "thing" for the church pews, and have painted
several.

Well, tomorrow the door opens at 9am!  We are ready.
Paintings are all hung, champagne is chilled, cookies are
baked.  Ready for the crowds!  Hope to see you all.

We had a track meet tonight.  Warwick vs E-town.
Both our boys and girls won!  Great job to all the kids.

Glass and Wood

"Glass and Wood"
14x18 original watercolor...$700.00
Available this weekend at my Spring Open House!

I was selected as a blog favorite by Rosa's Picks.
This is the second time one of my paintings has been
showcased.

I am trying to finish one more painting before Saturday.
Linda has the space saved to hang it so... I am trying!
Eileen, one of my students dropped off home made
chocolate shortbread for open house... I am having a
hard time leaving it alone!   Abbey is coming home
tomorrow so Linda is pretty happy.  She will be here
helping out all weekend.  Ben (our son-in-law)
is studying for Law finals so we will not be seeing him.
Tomorrow I have a track meet.
For now, back to my painting...

Bend in the Road

"Bend in the Road"
24x18" Original Watercolor ~ $1500.00

Most of the new paintings are now on my website.Email reminders were sent today, Facebook invites
were also sent.  Most of the paintings are hung.  Linda's
helpers were framing extra prints today.  Champagne is
chillin in the fridge...  I am still painting since Linda seems
to have it all under control!
Hope to see you over the weekend!

Another painting ready...

Untitled... but needs a title by Friday!
14x18

So basically I am still painting, I hope to finish one more
in time for the weekend.  But Linda has a "to do list" for
me so I may not make it.  Linda has most of the paintings hung.
There is a flurry of framing of prints going on.  Linda does
not seem to be in the same state of panic that usually accompanies
the fall Open House but I may change that as we get a few
days closer!  Add a lecture I am giving on Wednesday night
and a Friday track meet...
Hope you are all planning to attend this weekend.
