2023 Sunflower #7

 mini original watercolor  $250.

I was able to finish a small commission and a 14x18 painting for Open House over the past few days.
Linda is slowly getting the studio back together after our major 2nd floor flood.   2 rooms almost there. Opened a small wall, new HVAC, new lights, fresh paint and a new rug. It is much more open but we lost hanging space.

We have been celebrating my good news all through the weekend. Thursday we had dinner at Lemoncello with our friend Joan and my sister-in law Beth.

The waitress put a candle in my cake!
Friday we went to Trattoria Fratelli with friends Ron and Carol.  We had fabulous leftovers all weekend.  Saturday the guys were working on trim in the studio and Linda was painting.  Sunday we picked up a marketplace rub for the one studio room and Linda painted some more!  I was also painting!  Finished a 14x18 landscape and started one that Linda may print.  Details to follow.

Shows:

I am planning to exhibit at Lititz Parkwalk
Saturday, September 30.  This is the old Porchwalk show that was moved to the park during Covid and will continue to be in the park.  It is a FREE show and the Lititz Park is beautiful.  Plan on coming to Lititz!!

I am also planning on having my annual Open House, November 17-19.  Linda is busy working on the details!   I am cutting back on my daily blog paintings so I can spend time on larger paintings.  I will blog Monday, Tuesday and Wednesday, posting at 7pm (in your inbox Tues-Thurs).  Lititz is a wonderful town full of places to stay, restaurants and shopping so plan on a getaway and come to my open house!

Health Up Date...

 WooHooooooo
Today was a BIG appointment day.
Appointment #1:  7:45am was my surgeon.  He said I was in the very lucky smallest percentage who got the BEST possible results.   "Complete clinical results" meaning all cancer is GONE!   At this point the tumor is completely eradicated and nothing left but scar tissue.  I will NOT be having surgery.  As you know with cancer there is always a chance of it hiding under the scar tissue or cropping up as a different type.  I will be getting internal exams and MRI/cat scans every 3 months for the next 1-2 years.  My next appointment is 12/14.  Meanwhile we are to live our life to the fullest which is all Linda needed to hear.  I see trips  and "FUN" days being planned as you read this!!

Appointment #2:   2:00 Wound care.  As you may have guessed, torching the tumor has also torched my innards.  The only way to heal these internal burns are with the hyperbaric chamber. This was a long appointment.  Bottom line, radiation is still active 6 months after the last treatment.  Nothing can be done to help heal until after January 11.  Then I am to clear my schedule from January through March for every day, 2.5 hours inside the chamber, 5 days a week, at least 12 weeks.

After a long wound care meeting we celebrated...

I am SO thankful for all the support, the delivered Blessings and your faithful prayers. Definitely the longest nine months of our lives. But you all helped us through. THANK YOU.

2023 Sunflower #1

mini original watercolor   $225

It is Sunflower time!  I found a huge field full of Sunflowers.

Show Update:  We decided to cancel Waterford Show.  I love this show but with possibly more treatments it is just impossible to plan on going.  That leaves Parkwalk in Lititz on 9/30 and at this point I am planning on having my Open House in November.  Not the year we planned!

Road Trip: We had a small window to have some fun; since my next appointments are on Wednesday.  So last week we took a road trip with the idea of hunting some fresh subjects for me to paint. A very HOT week!   We left last Tuesday and headed to Frederick, MD.  I apologize Joan H. for not visiting but we were there only 2 hours.  We had a nice breakfast at Showroom.  And then went to Great Stuff by Paul.  Linda keeps this file of places to visit and she had a magazine article from 1999 about this place.  Paul greeted us and announced he is selling out, good we did not wait another year!  Great  place to wander around.  Back on the road heading to VA  with our next stop Gunston Hall, home of George Mason.  Do you know your history?    We both enjoy historic homes and this did not disappoint.  Then on to Stratford Hall  one of my favorites.  Birthplace of Robert E Lee.    We rented a little cottage on the grounds.  Wednesday we started with breakfast at Art of Coffee.  This area is rather limited in food choices!   We spent a few hours at the plantation house then Linda went back to the cottage and I wandered the grounds.  Dinner tonight was at Angelo's, we both had fresh caught fried shrimp.  Thursday was breakfast again at Art of Coffee and we hit the road.  The plan was to go to Middleburg, VA.  Drove back roads and enjoyed the "landscape"  We parked in town and within a few moments dark nasty clouds rolled in, we decided to skip lunch and skip wandering around and head home.  That weather chased us back to PA and finally the skies opened up so hard I had to pull over and wait it out.  We arrived safely home with LOTS of photos for me to use.  I am planning to work on some larger paintings in between the sunflowers.
