2017 Islands #2

4"x 6"  Original Watercolor - A Painting A Day
Islands #2
$275.

Our first port was San Juan.  We took a wonderful private
walking tour "Night Tales of Old San Juan".
It was hot and someone rolled up their curtain and I liked
the way it looked from the street. Strong vibrant colors.

2017 Islands #1

4"x 6"  Original Watercolor - A Painting A Day
Islands #1
$275. SOLD

This was the view from our ships balcony leaving the port of Manhattan, NY at dusk.  What a thrill to see this icon of freedom.

On the homefront...
A new Speed Queen washer and dryer will be delivered on Friday.  Need to rearrange our laundry room to go from a stackable to side by side.  Not enough room for everything to fit but Linda will make it work.

Weekend check in

I wanted to share a few things...
We had a little "staycation" with friends this past weekend and one of the local things we did was go to The Wolf Sanctuary in Lititz.   Our first time there and well worth the time.  I think at some point we will spring for the private tour.  Saturday general tour was packed.  We were shocked at how full it was.  I highly suggest this for everyone.

Sunday Linda and I went to see the movie Hidden Figures.  What a fantastic movie.  An inspiration for every woman and every minority.   Who knew....  loved it and highly recommend it to everyone 13 and up.  Worth the price.

So Monday I am back to my "A painting a day" pieces.  I have one planned of the Statue of Liberty as we sailed out the harbor.  What a thrill it was to see this iconic statue.  Made both Linda and my heart flutter a bit.

We also need to go check out a new washer and dryer.  Our 25 year old Maytag washer died.  They do not make them like that any more.  Linda is very sad to see it go.

2017

Wow, 2017.  That makes this the start of my 11th year of blogging.  I never thought I would last this long!  Sometimes the pressure to get a painting finished in a day is a bit much but mostly I have enjoyed this process and plan to continue.

I had a commission for a surprise Christmas gift that I could not share until after they opened it. I can show you now!  It is a cottage from Mount Gretna, PA.  Not an easy commission, its busy, with interesting angles and lots of small details.  They loved it!

We just returned from a 13 day cruise to the Southern Caribbean on Norwegian Breakaway.  It was our 1st time cruising and 1st time in the islands.  Linda does not sit still!!   I will say that it was the most relaxing vacation ever.  Usually we are touring and on the move.  The first day or two we hated it.  The ship has 4000 guests plus 1000 crew.  So it was busy and noisy all the time.  Took a while till we found quiet spots to hang out.  Linda read 5 books and I actually read 1 and could have used another.  This ship does it well. Great food, great entertainment with plenty to do, staff was wonderful, and the ship was spotless.  We had 7 ports and of course we did not sit on the beach.  We had 3-4 hour tours of each island.  San Juan, St Thomas, Tortola, St Maarten, Antigua, Barbados and St. Kitts.  I have over 900 photos and plan to start painting tomorrow.  Andy paints the Caribbean...
Stay tuned!
