Sunflower #3.
The planning has begun on our Annual Open House. Back to the usual date of the weekend before Thanksgiving and back to the usual wine and hors d'oeuvres. Linda did shorten the hours, after all we are not as young as we were! So that means I need to focus on some fantastic new paintings! Pressure is on. More info will be coming.

weeks update...
The week is flying by with no painting time! Tuesday I played carpenters helper, helping my friend Ron put in the base cabinets in our kitchen. By helper, I mean lifting and handing him tools! Wednesday was our "play day". Rode bikes with our friends the Hildebrands. We did 16 miles on the tandem on the Mount Gretna Trail and then had a late lunch at Lazzaro's in Lebanon, PA. We really enjoy the family that owns this restaurant, very out going and SO Italian. They make dining so much fun. Thursday is set up at Mount Gretna. This is a hard set up, you may not drive to your booth so you dolly pretty far. That's LOTS of trips back and forth.
I was thinking, this makes 41 years at this show. My first year was 1981 and I was 28 years old. In those days this was a BIG deal show, I was showing with the "big boys" and I was GREEN! I did not own a tent and was using tarps. It was a mess. I was SO out of my comfort zone and out of my league. I was not ready to be exhibiting with this group! On Sunday morning they had a Pancake Breakfast and we walked in and the main table was filled with all the big named artists. Bruce Johnson, Lynne Yancha, Nancy Strailey, plus others and they were chatting about showing and being an artist, sharing stories and it was intimidating. The first few years I was not invited to that table! I was so starry eyed and new and inexperienced. Eventually I was accepted. They are all no longer showing and I am now the next older generation of artists. I am now the old guard and there is no longer a breakfast. I was thinking that another five years and it will be our turn to retire and hopefully there will be a new group ready to take over... I have had the same space location for most of the years. I went from a tarp to my own tent, then to a double booth where a local tent company put it up for me, then I put up my own double booth until 2017 when I went down to one booth but still in my usual space location. I have been here so long there have been three show directors! This is a great show with professional artists and craftsmen. Worth your time to come out and walk around. There is food and music and ME!

I normally wait till September to paint my sunflower series however they are in full bloom right now. I decided not to wait. If you have a great sunflower photo send it to me, I can always use more.
Busy weekend. Abbey and Ben came home for their 20th class reunion. I cannot believe its 20 years. Actually, I wish we could have gone since we know so many of her classmates! Would have loved to catch up with them. But we were NOT invited. Saturday was a beautiful show day in Lititz. I did well plus got to talk to so many people I know. Sunday was brunch with the kids before they headed back to the city. We were feeling a little tired and lazy but do not want to turn into stuffy old people, so we forced ourselves to go out to Longs Park for a free concert, Zydeco. Excellent evening and glad we went, music of any kind always makes you feel better.

2022 Landscape #22
mini original watercolor $225.
One of our favorite places to visit, Storm King in New Windsor NY, we try to go every year. There is something about that little grove of trees. I must love this view because Linda remembered I had painted it in the past. So I added some birds!
Weather is looking great for Saturday's BIG Lititz Craft Show. If you are on Facebook, google the Lititz Rotary Craft Show, then scroll down and see FAQ's for parking info. Come early, wear your walking shoes!! Find me on the square.

I road my bike this morning and it was hot even for me, and I love the heat! Linda loves documentaries in a broad subject! I simply sit in on whatever she has on! Saturday we watched
I Am Big Bird: The Caroll Spinney Story. Very facinating!
Then Sunday was Meltdown, the Three Mile Island story. I was ready for it to be boring but it was fascinating seeing 1979 and bringing back memories. Its a 4 part series, the first 2 parts were ok but the meat of the story was the last 2. A lot I did not know.

Stratford Hall, VA window. This building had the BEST windows, wonderful light, great paint colors and views!
UPDATE: I had a great show in my home town of Lititz this past Saturday. Perfect weather and I got to see lots of friends and clients. This is the perfect show for art, with a great selection and many of my peers so I was very surprised and honored to take 1st Place Watercolor.
