Scotland Update: Our LAST day in Scotland was a free day. We took the Hop On Hop Off around town. We often do this in new cities to get a lay of the land.

Scotland Update: 
We started in the village of Doune, once renowned as a centre for pistol-making.
Here is Linda chatting with Steve, our guide.


A stop at the David Stirling Memorial. He was the founder of the Special Air Service in 1941  A fantastic statue.

The views from the memorial were...I  am running out of words to describe...  I thought this reminded me of Pennsylvania.


Stirling Castle
Stirling is one of Scotland's greatest stone castles,  "He who holds Stirling, holds Scotland..."

Used in the movies Game of Thrones, Outlander and Monty Python - Holy Grail.



And the Kelpies,a shape-changing aquatic spirit of Scottish legend

Tonight we had a final dinner with our guide at Potting Shed in the Roman Camp Hotel.

A beautiful crock in the window at Glendale Flour Mills in Boyertown, PA.

Friday set up for the Lititz Art Show was brutally HOT.  I like the heat but this was rough.  They moved the show out of the park (due to wet grounds) and onto the ball field; out in the open with the sun just beating down. We had 2 spaces and decided to downsize.  We put all the paintings under one tent and used the 2nd tent to sit under and a place for clients to hang out.  I was shocked at the number of people that still came out.  I actually had a great day.

Scotland Update: Today is a full day!  Leaving the Isle of Skye by ferry to Mallaig.   On the hunt for the train...  our guide had a special view planned of the  Jacobite Express as it flew by.  A bit of Harry Potter!  Stopped for a walk on the silver sands of Morar, who knew there are beautiful beaches in Scotland!  Next was a drive - with stops through beautiful Glencoe.   My brother and I were dropped off and we had a wee walk to our pick up point.  

While the girls sat on the wall and soaked in the magnificent scenery. This land is unreal!


And we finished our day with a close up of some "Hairy Coos"!  We have been waiting the whole trip to see some.  Farmers are moving them away from tourist so they cannot be fed or messed with!

We are spending 2 nights at Poppies Hotel.  We had a 3rd floor room with dormers.  I was bending over pulling something out of my bag and stood up, forgetting about the dormer and smacked my head...HARD... saw stars, split it open, made a bloody mess and had a band aid on my head for the rest of the trip!

One more from Tibbermore Parish in Perth, Scotland


There was some work in the studio, frame and box an order, then errands. We made a stop at Art of Recycle. Linda gets ribbon for bookmarks and empty envelopes for the back of mini originals. You should never buy craft supplies new...this place has everything you do and don't need. Perfect for kids craft projects. You could spend hours wandering around. Cd's, movies, books...anything and it is neatly organized. Check it out!




Scotland Update:
This was my second favorite day. Linda requested seeing the Sea Eagle.  Scotland's largest bird of prey and the 4th largest in the world. Its wing span is 8'.   So off we go to Portree. Known for this famous port view.



On to a boat!


We saw the eagle...it was exciting! Also saw dolphins, seals, sea lions, red jellyfish. Totally enjoyed it.


The afternoon was spent at Talisker Distillery,  the oldest working distillery on the Isle of Skye. We had an education on single malt scotch.

The painting I used as my demonstration at the Antique Mill is finished.

Today we delivered some prints to Wynnewood, PA and then had a late lunch at Limoncello with our friends Joan and Jean, leaving no time to paint.

PARKING for the ART SHOW this Saturday is not easy.  There is very limited space in the middle of the park.  The other option is parking at the High School.  Wear your sneakers and a hat and bring water!!

A window from Tibbermore Parish in Perth, Scotland dating to 1632.  Love this register soaking up the sun on the window sill.  You can almost smell the old pages!

UPDATE: The Lititz Art Show will be held in THE FIELD behind the park. The park is toooo wet. My booth is in the last row #152! Plan on it being hot (no shade, wear a hat and bring water!

Scotland Update:  For some reason (unknown to me) Linda was hung up on the variety of road signs. It became a game to spot one. So very different than those in the States.  Also gives you an idea of the landscape

Sheep roamed free everywhere...lots of them.

Scotland Update: We used the Isle of Skye as a home base for day trips.
Dunvegan Castle ~ the oldest continuously occupied castle in Scotland. In the same family for 800 years.




We had lunch at The Oyster Shed, a warehouse of fresh seafood. You place an order and eat outside at the picnic tables. really good!


And a stop at Talisker Distilleries for a wee nip!  In between these stops is beautiful landscapes with stops to look around.  I love Scotland...

Scotland Update: Day 5 Inverness to Skye
Might be my favorite day in Scotland. Driving on a one lane road in the middle of nowhere (a bit unnerving) but unbelievable views.

Finished the day with a view of Eilean Donan Castle. 
We did not have time to go in, there were long lines and it was getting close to closing.
